Nowcomm has implemented a multi-party High-Definition ‘Telepresence’ video solution at three administrative locations for Southern Cross Healthcare plc.
Why was it required – Business Challenges:
Southern Cross is the leading provider of Care Homes in the UK, with over 730 care homes and 37,000 beds nationwide. The appointment of a new forward-thinking CEO led to Southern Cross looking for an appropriate video technology to bring their geographically-dispersed board members and senior executives together more regularly.
What will be implemented – Solution:
Southern Cross Healthcare were referred to Nowcomm on our reputation within the private healthcare sector to seek advice on what video solutions were available on the market today and how they could be adopted effectively. A visit to Nowcomm’s demonstration facilities soon clarified the options available and how these could translate onto the business requirements and culture within Southern Cross.
The first phase of the solution connects three main administrative locations together with an easy to use, high-quality video solution. The solution has minimal operating costs by utilising existing IP WAN connections rather than expensive ISDN circuits. High-Definition Polycom HDX ‘Telepresence’ endpoints are deployed at each location, which can easily be moved from one room to another with the minimal amount of set-up. Conferences can be scheduled; via a web page (Radvision iView), via Microsoft Outlook or setup directly from the Polycom endpoint.
The solution uses also includes the provision to expand video conferences to web-based users (Scopia Desktop) enabling large numbers of remote employees, suppliers or business partners to be invited to join a conference as an active or passive participant.
Why the customer chose Nowcomm:
Nowcomm’s approach to the solution has been a major contributing element to the fast adoption rate of video within Southern Cross. In addition to cost savings from reduced travel, the video solution has enabled new business practices include performing video interviews, the ability to integrate with a Video-on-Demand (VoD) platform for staff nurse training and the potential to offer a facility for residents to video-call with their friends and families via the internet.
Jason says, “The quality is amazing, even on multi-party conferences"
